We have just celebrated the Winter Solstice. In Northern Hemisphere this signifies the coming of the light. In the Southern Hemisphere this signifies increasing darkness. In what way might you shift your focus of attention with this seasonal change?

  1. northern hemisphere

    leaves gone, branches iced
like a tree I welcome Light
    pray green prayers for Spring

  2. There is a darkness that is warm, loving and nuturing. There is a darkness which reveals the magnificence of spirit in no other way. There is a darkness that embraces you with the perfection of solitude infinitly connected. There is a darkness that speaks silently of all things possible. There is a darkness that needs us to embrace it in this way.

    • You are saying this so beautiful. I am not a winter lover, darklover. I love sun and warmth. I am always teling my loved ones: “If it were not for you, I was born in a warm and sunny country. This is helping me to surrender and take the dark season for what it is. Thank you., Love and light

  3. I had the opportunity to attend a fire ceremony on Christmas Eve at the Taos Pueblo, which is the oldest inhabited living space in North America ~ the Pueblo structures being perhaps a 1000 years old ~

The Fire ceremony starts out in a Catholic Church and involves parading a Mother Mary effigy around the Pueblo while very large bonfires are lit ~ 40 or so ~ very large as in anywhere from 8 to 30 feet high of stacked wood ! : ~) The ceremony is both for Christmas and to welcome in the Light as we are headed into longer days and shorter nights here in the Western Hemisphere ~

For me, it was very representative of where we are at in the world ~ the dark night of the soul is ending and the Light is coming back to birth a much more interconnected and abundant world ~ so I’m shifting my attention this season to Being an open door for the Light that I feel is returning within us ~ Time to shine our Light so the world can See ~ : ~)

    • Mmmmmm! Reminds me of my similar experience in Santa Fe quite a few years ago. We walked the plaza, seeking a room for Mary on a donkey and was greeted at each place with the alter-ego dancing on the roof-tops. Then we walked the streets with each building lighted with hundreds of bagged lights and bonfires on the corner where hot chocolate was being warmed for the carolers. Beautiful!
And thank you for the reminder that our Light shines in many corners of this earth. All we need do is Let It shine.

      • Wow ~ Yes New Mexico has some very inspirational and unique celebrations throughout the year and at Christmas ~ Is there room at the Inn within us for the Divine Child that has been born ~ ? ~ I feel there is indeed ~ and soon time for this Child to lead the Way ~ :~ )

    • what a wonderful place to be! I just love New Mexico.

  4. Light and darkness create contrast, which in some paradigms is regarded as complementary, and non oppositional. As we tend to sleep in darkness,we know less of that experience is none the less complementary to awakening activity emerges gradually through accommodation perceptions adjust in both light and dark.senses are active.

as spirits arising from the primordial essence, which is both inside us and without us too, sur-rounding us aurically we are at one and the same time embodied matters and disembodied essence conjoined integrally..so too iight and darkness are integrally conjoined in alchemic union resourcefully.

  5. With the increase light, I always feel more inspired to be more creative and fuel the light within myself. Where I would go within and reflect during the time leading up to the Winter Solstice, now I emerge and act on potential and possibilities. I awaken even more.

  6. It has only been 6 days since the Winter Solstice and I already feel it in my spirit and in my body. I liken the feeling to a butterfly emerging from a cocoon full of anticipation and optimism. My intention is to live each day at my highest vibration and, in doing so, to accept whatever comes.

  7. Still I am moved deeply inward, yearning full connection to the deep still peace that awaits in the darkness if I stay long enough, like nature hibernating, restoring balance, creating new inner alignments. The coming of light calls me to “lighten up”. Purify the body and mind so that the souls illumination may shine brightly. yum.

  8. We need the “dark” to see the “light” … both are measure of duality thinking. Neither is “bad” at what they do … it is simply Nature doing its part … the ying … the yang … each giving birth to The Other …

  9. I love the dark, I love the light, I love to sleep L-O-N-G, deep and warm in my winters cave, I love the sun sneaking in around the window shades announcing a brand new day, longer and warmer coming again. I love this endless circle of retreating inside and being alone, quiet and deep…. then rushing forth to catch a ride on a park swing with fellow children of the sun or climb a welcoming tree to whisper to a bud. Isn’t Earth experience devastatingly wonderful?
