LOL, yes I read some of these fortune cookies and laugh, they are so ludicrous, such as “you will meet someone who will change your life.” To me that one is too easy. I meet new people all the time who change my life!
But then I get the occasional one that is truly inspiring and says some that warms my heart. A true “koan” of wisdom hidden in a cookie, and it feels like it was placed there just for me. This koan would not mean anything to anyone else, but yet it touches my heart. It comes to me in the right place at the right time, and I am amazed at how impactful it is considering it is just a fortune in a cookie. Anyone and anything can be the instrument for our teacher, our comforter, our light shining forth.
Very well said! One day I was playing at the park with my son and found a fortune cookie “fortune” lying on the ground that said something along the lines of how my smile lights up the world around me. I was feeling a little low that morning and that “fortune” was the Perfect pick-me up

fortune cookies are by definition about telling you the future. i have to wonder why you are so unhappy with your present that you have to go to a fortune cookie to try to feel good. if on the other hand the question of the week was about “what you say to people you meet everyday” then these cute sayings would truly be meaningful. i would challenge you to put your sayings on bumper stickers so it could have an influence on thousands who might see it or make up cards that you give to people you meet. either of these activities would actually contribute to a shift. posting cute sayings here is just preaching to the choir.
I may be one of the only people qualified here to talk about Fortune Cookies since I am half Chinese. You know the Chinese have a great sense of humor and such a little thing after a meal is not to be taken seriously. However, there is a profound understanding of chance in Chinese culture to the point of becoming superstitious. The mind influences events like the wind blows leaves. The way you think and feel will determine your fortune but you must pay attention to what the Universe is saying to you at all times. The Universe can communicate through, newspapers, books, a commercial, a Fortune from a cookie or a bird’s song. If you know how to listen you will alsways have good fortune. That’s the basic principle of the I Ching and Feng Shui
