So why can’t there be peace on earth?

So why can’t there be peace on earth?
One of the reasons is that so often we hear the fraise ”Fight for peace” When we push at things or fight them we meet resistance. the more we fight the more resistance we meet. Each person also has a

different Idea how peace can be achived. So the first thing we have to learn is to accept each others differences we dont have to agree but we can accept that as we sit around a camp fire each of us will have a different view of that same fire. So we have to learn to stop trying to force things, but to gentley allow them to evolve by opening our hearts to allow it to happen and to learn to live in peace ourselves, because peace dosn’t come from without it comes from within so the more we fight the more we defeate ourselves by attracting resistance. There is a lot of chaos in this world today, much of it is caused by our own resistance to change it is so easy for us to adopte this chaos as our own and bring it into our own lives. Remember the way we handle both the chaos in our lives as well as in the world will create our future. Don’t fight for peace LIVE IT IN LOVE change your world by your example!! Namaste Dave

  1. There is peace in the world – i have found some in my little hiding hole away far away from the gotta-dos. For over 50 years – i took my training seriously and did the things ya gotta do to get by in the ever insane rat race. I had the creds and the service experience, yet i didn’t have any magical advantage – i knew my stuff on the level.

In 2007, i had a vision quest that took me to the top of the mountains and the bottom of the earth. In a very sacred space, I was taken on a wild adventure when the facade cracked to a point where i could no longer hold two opposite beliefs simultaneously and would have to choose one or the other.

The VQ lasted way longer in retrospect than i believed at the time. The universe reinforced to major themes – 1) as above, so below and 2) the fibonacci sequence governs nature. As a math and science person who was being locked out of the field – i left. It took some strange circumstance to land in Ashland OR and begin a meta-physical carpet ride that let me here to shift.

Long story short – our beliefs have weight and thus exist in a real system. Matter and Energy have another component – spirit or heart are the best words to describe the concept. I have found some peace and we can achieve it – each of us as one, then all of us as one. Then we can start pairing up to make two and go from there.

Thanks for the post, Dave. Namaste’

  2. For almost 10 years I was a member of a small group called The Peace Rondo. It had been formed years before I was invited to create a forum for discussing the general topic of peace.
One of the originating ideas was that while we can easily make a mental picture of war…we have no equivalent mental picture of Peace.
There are many levels of addressing the issue of peace…all of them valid…and many practices, beliefs and skills that people bring to the pursuit. And still at the core seems to be that we have a problem making a mental and emotional picture of peace.
Could that be the common thread that could bring the reality to the idea of having peace?
And, if so, how could we bring that picture into common experience?

  3. Wow Joan what a great group. One of the reasons it is easier to make a picture of war and violence is because that seems to always be on our news in movies ect in other words the way the world has been conditioned by the goverment and the media. The only way I can see is first going back although we are all connected we are each individuals whilst on this earth and so each persons idea of peace will always have a differant picture depending on education, what part of the world we live in, and whats important in our lives. But we could visulize peace, love, light, to ourselves. Then to others and to all and to the universe.By consetrating on the feeling we could start to heal.Ive put a great meditation on my webb site daveheckford.com that realy does work and makes a differance if we start doing this meditation and ster using it in groups ect you would start to see change only by encouraging people to be come consiouse about the way we effect the earth and all around us can we truly start to actavate peace.and also campain to stop all these violent games kids play today as all their doing is brain washing our children to think violence is ok. blessings Dave

  4. All encompassing peace is at best transitory. There was a moment the other day in which no one on this planet was actively engaged in trying to hurt or kill each other or themselves through a violent act. During that moment no one died anywhere. Moments like this are few but they do exist. I didn’t keep track of the exact moment, I just noted it’s occurrence.

  5. Dave, All of the ideas you present are good ones and vital to the creation of a culture where peace memes and practices have a core roll.
Where I see the problem is getting people to the point where they think/feel those things are valuable and worth doing.
I think the issue goes much deeper than the media bombardment of violence…I think it goes back to why we consider notifications of violence “the news.” And that is a long standing issue of having to know about danger to survive…we are wired to survive.

If we want to bring practices to the forefront that are other than violence, we need to understand the workings of our survival circuits well enough to be able to re-tune what we see as survival issues …which looks to me like broadening our set of ideas because we will always have to be able to handle actual threats … to the realm of creativity, discovery and living in harmony.

The threat that is playing out on the broader scope in the world is terrorism. And I see that as humanity acting out … and outwardly… the internal fears that we have to deal with to make the evolutionary quantum shift from living in response to fear and being afraid…to having a greater, more developed and developing point of viewing the world.

I think it is time to take steps to fill in the space between the battlefront stance humanity has lived within for so long…and start to look at what kind of thinking and practices are involved in living a safe, productive, effective life.

That takes us to the next step beyond visualizing the co-creative goals … and that would be taking on what can at first seem to be a boring part of developing the nuts and bolts functionings of daily life in peace terms.

I see the great broad visions of co-creative evolution and peace as what we do to throw a grappling hook up the great mountain we want to climb. But to actually get up the mountain, we have to not only set and re-set the hook as our clarity increases … we have to actually grab the rope and put feet on the mountain side and go up the mountain…perhaps especially if we are afraid of heights.

    Blessings, Joan

    • When I was reading this thread a thought struck me that I thought might be pertinent. As we (humanity) have evolved from a place guided by fight or flight the stories tribes passed down were almost always about some sort of militaristic defense posture against an invader or human against some natural phenomena. Only a relative few of the tribal heroes were inventors or in other words people who chose their own obstacles rather than reacting to outside pressure.
The very nature of story telling implies a theme, which in turn implies conflict. I was just thinking that only through changing the nature of conflict in our story telling will media ever change.
Further it seems to me that the the easiest way to subvert the media message is to create events where people can join together with a focus on love and experience the deep sense of joy that sort of event can elicit making the vicarious thrills of the commercial media second rate at best.

      • Isnt this great how we are each looking and disscusing world peace thank you Warren and Joan for your wonderful insites they both hold pasion and truth. Joan as I was reading your message an old saying came into mind “one persons terroist is another mans freedom fighter” We use religon and any excuse we find it seems to go to war If we are to stop this we have to take the power from the armys which dictate a lot and also goverments who want to control the reason this is all happening is through the greed of a few people of power and a few fanatics that want controll over their people as we look through history we will see how people have destroyed nations for power, gold, oil, land ect through greed. the only way that can change is by the people on the ground saying no what seperates one religion from another? Belife ? No its culture yes we can read a lot of teachings wher it will in very tiny writing and pulled out of context will say distroy the sinner but 99% talk of love respect living together in peace. Greed is what is destroying this world and while the media is telling us we must look like this have this earn this to be excepted into society people can never be at peace with themselves let alone with each other The way we think ,act, vote for our goverments needs to change to bring peace into this world the wonderful thing is its starting to people are starting to be more aware of whats going on about them there is more proof everday being printed by the free press of the coruption of power thats happening in the world more prosicutions of these people and organizations so things are changing but before they do chaos will happen this is caused by fear of change. I still feel the peace must come within more events showing unconditional love and peace as Warren says but more importantly we as individuals must live with a peace of heart then change peace will naturaly evolve.
On another note I really look forward to you all sharing your views ond belifs on this matter as I am learning so much from you all

        • Dave, You have packed a lot of good ideas into your post!

Given all the areas that need to be addressed to create dynamic, exciting viable peace-full world … it seems the general reason we don’t have peace on earth is that we are just not very good at it. Given the disparity between the investment humans have made in war and what we have invested in peace, we have a bit of catch up to do in terms of peace-know-how.

And I agree that peace must come from within… and starting there… each of us have a brain and a heart.

HeartMath Institute has done some amazing work with understanding the heart-brain communications. Most people don’t know that we have a brain in our hearts and that communication goes both directions … brain instructions to heart… and heart instructions to brain. The nerve bundle carrying messages from heart to brain is many times bigger than the one from brain to heart. And when there is a difference of opinion internally between what the brain thinks should be done… and the heart senses what should be done… the heart is senior.

Now if we could live outwardly as wisely as our internal organs do, we would have “a leg up” so to speak.

That information has been embedded in teachings for millennium … and now science has caught up giving us even more to begin to work with.

So, following your lead, more questions come to mind.

What trains us … or perhaps entrains us … to build on the wisdom of our hearts and utilize our brain/thinking ability in support of that greater wisdom?

What skills do we need to learn, invent and gain know-how and know-what ability with to outwit the simplistic answers that we find in conflict?

We have long said “what if they call a war and nobody came?” Maybe it is time to answer that question… really.

How do we create what is needed to get people to a point where that happens…or can happen?

One thing I have noticed is that when we think we have an answer, but that answer doesn’t give us a handle of dealing with the issue … we have not yet gotten to the real answer. We do have at least a clue … but the clue needs to be pursued until we get to a kernel of idea that dislodges the log jam.

If we keep unpacking the ideas that come up for us… continue the conversation … we will find more and more nuggets and connections that can and will give us what we need to be able to cause a peace.

I’m going to reread your post a few more times … there is so much in there to unpack that is critical and valuable that I want to continue to work with it.

Thanks so much for so much idea ore. – Joan

      • Your point about story line requiring conflict is a really good point…as a writer I’ve dealt with the story/conflict issue for a long time.In writing classes and working with other writers writing, it doesn’t take long to go beyond the issue of “action” (that means violent) conflict to conflict of ideas and conflict where a person or group has issues that pull them in different directions…conflict…but not necessarily violent.

One issue I do run into as a writer is that we have many words/terms for everyday things that are violence based…finding words that set the situation or discussion up in other terms is often difficult. So one issue is to become more aware of the embedded violent terms we commonly use…and find or invent other words/terms.

I really like your idea of creating such a wonderful set of experiences that violence looks boring. YES!

When I was a child one of my parents’ friends had a great way of putting one of her philosophies…she would address conflict this way…”Let’s find out what it eats and starve it!”

Conflict eats…fear…lack…greed…misunderstanding… continuing old fights long after we have forgotten how or why they started…

        what else?

  6. very well put Joan. I often use fire and electricity as metaphors for fear and love. We can see fire and feel it’s force without any additional technology intervening. we can’t see electricity but once we learned how to harness it, it became the dominant energy source in society. fear is an emotion we all feel and as a base emotion it is our natural default. Love on the other hand is usually more invisible like electricity and is not pursued as a philosophy until society elevates enough people beyond subsistence to a platform of plenty. only when a brave few (like jesus) decide to guide their lives with the new paradigm does it become evident to some of those still living a life based on fear that there might be a better way. we’re still in the middle of this process and it is my belief that the end of days 2012 is simply a point on a curve where we will no longer be going uphill in proving the validity of a love based life, instead more and more people will it accept it as obvious.

  7. Wow so much info its great, I don’t know really where to start Joan what you said about the heart brain is somthing I to have been working with both in meditations and teaching people. I like warren lkie to use metaphors and parables I explain the brain is like a computer it holds all the info that has happend in our lives and knowlage we have gained along the way but because it anly records feelings the actions we take when only using the brain are quit often seen as irrational. But if we sit in quite with the same subject and put our hands on our hearts to make us conciouse of our hearts we can listen to that small voice and the thought of that subject changes and we start to learn lessons and store wisdom. Also Warren made a good point in pointing back ancient tribes etc the conflict and fear that was there then but also there was the need to fight for the then survivel of the human speicies. This got be back to thinking of balance and just maybe for us to have our human experiance. and to grow its something we are also ment to experiance ( only a thought ) so if this is true then the illusion of peace then changes because in there to bring balance in to the world there will always be some kind of conflct but what matters is to what degree so we can still have a peaceful existence as I said only a thought. I was also intrested to see Warren made the point that when the brave few ie Jesus make a stand some lives are changed because of the power of their love Unfortantly the teachings of these Masters of assention over the years have been changed and taught in a whole differant light. It always confused me as a child how a loving heaveny father who only wanted the best for his children could send them to a life of hell and damnation if they didnt do what he told them.It took me some time to discover for my self that these words had been changed for the manipulation of the whole by the few. Like Warren I to feel were only middle way through our prosses of peace and balance but I still point out that in this chaos its important the way we act and handle it as to the consiquence of the outcome. Joan as a dyslectic the computer has been the ony way I have been able to express my self in words (with an over worked spell checker thats if it can find the word Im trying to find he he )You are so right words are very important and the true understanding of them. But also we have to understand that different people have differant understandings of the same word prehaps the word God is a good example pople act in differant ways when some one uses this word some turn off some become defenceive and so on so the use of our words when exprecing our selves is also important depending on culture education and their lifes experiance. How many wars and conflics have been started over a mis placed word.I love the idea of making violence boring how can this be achevied? The only way I can see is to find and introduce something more exciting that will also benifet society I feel that this needs to start in the home and schools where so much peer teaching comes from and thus slowley allianate violence etc in society Just as smoking has been. There is one warning that does come to mind in seeking the path to peace is that we must bee careful not to create a brave new world or a animal farm. Because the feeling of freedom is also a cucialpart of the peace progess

  8. Just a new thought to throw into the pot.Whilst writting my new blog today this thought suddenly jumped out at me surley the values we teach our children are more important than prehaps we have given them credit for because our children are the new leaders teachers ect of the future and so the values we teach them will also effect this world we live in for as long as at least the next seven generations

  9. Wow – Go away for 16 days and come back to a depthful thread on peace – dave, warren, joan – i love you all. IT will take some time, to reread with full grok on, but i see a world that has two timelines in duality – A = War, B = Peace. The chess game of time is over, the white peace has won – the final score is the only remaining question.

This is ground-breaking post shift conceptualization. When we each speak our truth, peace is amplified. I have a disability that limits my body, but that same limit has freed my spirit. I watched the ideas crumble in metaphor, then i saw them reconstuct themselves in new patterns.

I returned to sacred ground and made peace with the past. The strange and charmed world of quarks is leaving with war. So is plutonium, because it is forever and our ‘leaders’ have ignored the problem. It is not the radiation’s fault, but the chemistry of the elements is a 3rd dimension reality that war cannot escape. So we are on the Peace Train and i like the tenor of the tone – harmonic, in touch with Gaia sense.

We are all on both timelines. The metaphor of an hour glass with the central inversion plane is a 50% fractal reality – let’s have a Peace Institute ready for launch on Birth 2012 day – Yellow Cosmic Star, December 22, 2012.

  10. Lenny I can not agree with you more what a wonderful Thought a Peace Institute on birth 2012 day You can count me in I firmly belive the more we put peace into or universe the more we will manifest it glad to have you back Lenny
