Taking on taking the word out…

There have been a couple of things that have emerged from the long lists of items to be considered and handled as I have stepped into this role of facilitating Birth 2012 events in Colorado beyond the boundaries of the ACE/Shift community.

The first meta-issue to emerge as I went through my volumes of old event production materials (I have been at Board level for 4 events that drew 50,000 – 80,000 people and about 300 seminar type smaller events..so there was a lot of mass to confront) was how much my ground of being had changed through the years. The earlier manuals I had written for my teams were “get the job done at any cost” instructions. It was later that I came to co-creative evolutionary work…and I came to it partly out of not liking working within parameters and organizations whose meta-premise was that the people were there to serve the work and not the other way around.

As I began to translate the old materials for use in this frame of reference… where without attention on resonance and holding the beings as the reason for the supporting work… I realized how different my more recent production work was from those early days.

There is a lot of useful stuff in those old files… lots of checklists and step by step production know-how. But what was missing in that early work was the know-what and the know-why and that things go better when we establish resonance first and not expect that it will somehow evolve of its own accord out of shared work.

(I have always taken heart knowing that we got to the moon even though the ship was off course over 80% of the time. The way they did it was to know where they were going, have very precise gauges to monitor where they were and make corrections fast, often and without justifying why they were off course.)

I’ve selected about a dozen production forms that seem to be the best fit for Birth 2012 events…I am updating them for heart based production and sending them off to Cynthia Young for her review and updates. Cynthia also has a lot of production and community experience and she will be putting hers and mine together for your use.

There is another vital part to event production beyond the nuts and bolts of production… that work is the “doing things right” part of the work. The other part of the work is the “doing the right things” part of the work. Both are vital… and where I am seeing the most differences between “hard line” production and “heart line” production is in the ground of being that frames and chooses the “doing the right things” part of the work… the leadership premises… that the tasks are done within.

I am going to be dusting off some old materials and updating them for Birth 2012… and for taking the messages out into the world that is not our community of familiar friends and familiar ideas. I need to get this material clear and concise for myself as well as for everyone I contact and then work with about participation in Birth 2012 and beyond and be able to meet them where ever they are.

…and then they have to have the briefing and framework to pass that message on to the people they enroll and invite to their events.

We clearly do not have enough time to do this in old fashioned production and linear time… so we will manifest it anyway.

I’ll be posting materials as I get them written for anyone to use and share as if helpful to you.

My assumption is that all of us are on the journey… and there will be many similarities along our ways no matter where we are in the world creating both events and expanding communities.

Out of all the distinctions I see between old business mode and co-creative mode is that the point used to be the result that we were to achieve…and now the journey is the not only the point but the result that is more important than the “results” we used to value.

I have had several people asking me if I would share my experiences to assist people who are taking on producing events outside of Colorado… and the answer is, of course, yes.

The next four months will be focused on our party with a purpose…and what comes after will be even more exciting.

  1. Joan! Thanks for your wonderful enthusiasm and knowhow! I’m surely excited that you are willing to facilitate this happening. Do you think we could do something with the Mile Hi Church community?

Sending love and blessings for our journey together to Birth 2012
