Appreciating the Unexpected Benefits

I had many clear intentions for my next living situation. I wanted to be
surrounded by nature, living with other conscious, kind people, in a
community/small village environment etc. etc. So, when the divine right place
came about, it was an easy decision for all involved. It not only sounded and
looked “right”, it FELT “right”.

What I hadn’t planned on was the additional unexpected request I
hadn’t even realized I put out the universe. But yet, when the opportunity came
into place, it was a clear reflection of a desire that had been
percolating.

Living with two other independent adults, it was expected that where was
going to have to be a bit of coordination to maneuver all three of us living in
harmony in one house. Though I consider myself a relatively neat person, I
learned quickly that my roommate’s level of cleanliness definitely exceeded my
own. I must admit, it was a bit surprising when I moved in to find out that the
standard practice was to clean all your dishes immediately after using them,
then to dry all the dishes and put them away before you leave the kitchen at the
end of your meal. In addition, because of the potential for mold in the
bathroom (which I am highly allergic to), there was a standard practice
of squeegeeing all the walls of the shower and the shower curtain after every
shower to reduce the likelihood of mold growth.

Though there was a twinge of worry when I thought of the extra time it would
take in my day to add in these practices after every meal and shower, I soon
came to a powerful realization. I had ASKED for this! I had
been putting out a clear intention about adding more mindfulness to my every day
practices. I had been feeling the desire to slow down more, to decrease my
multi-tasking and be more present in my actions. And these standard practices
of the household did exactly that! It was a perfect manifestation to
assist me in taking action on my desire.

I hope this is a gentle reminder to you, if you felt called to read this, to
be open to the unexpected benefits in your experience even if they may look
differently than you had expected. The universe is here to support you always in
expanding into your next fullest expression. Be open to the gifts it
provides. http://expandingjoycoaching.com/blog/

OK, fine nothing “happens to” us, but you get the point for sure :) We all have these kinds of weaving of levels of return-on-intent that don’t seem to make sense at first, then do. Part of the trick for me due to my particular personality wiring is to not automatically assume that it is in some way some Divine chastisement, a pointing-out-of-something-wrong-with-me.

Example: This year, I’m seemingly having to spend more down-time to just let old patterns of fear roll through me instead of “moving on beyond” them to more fulfillment, self-expression, etc. in the dynamic of “When one moves toward love, all that is not of love must surface to be healed or released.” (more or less a Course in Miracles paraphrase).

And when fear is roaring through, no need to pretend it isn’t there by suppressing or fighting it. It’s just more release, release… And there is only right-now. So while not as pleasant or spiritually sexy as being happy and on-the-go, there is both comfort and truth in the classic book title, “Love is Letting Go of Fear”.

Everything goes in cycles and it’s all going in the same direction (expansion, awareness, consciousness, love, etc.) regardless of appearances.

    IMO.
