What a beautiful rescue and dance by this whale. I was enthralled to watch it. A few years ago I heard a man speak about their efforts to get the whales and dolphins represented at the United Nations. It was so interesting and this video inspired me to check out their website to see what has been happening recently with their efforts. The following article calls for a bill of rights for the cetacean nation. It states: “The proponents of the bill of rights argue the cetacean mind is so advanced and self-aware that whales and dolphins should be classified as “non-human persons” who deserve the right to life, liberty and wellbeing.”
Wow! Dolphins and whales are just like us! They are self-aware and highly intelligent, perhaps surpassing us. I knew a couple who lived on the Big Island who told me two members of their family could swim with the dolphins underwater for an hour and never had to surface for air, just like the dolphins. I asked how they did that and they said they felt they were breathing somehow through their chest to receive air from the water. Many persons who swim with the dolphins receive healing of mind, body, and soul. They say you don’t have to touch them, just swim around with them. So interesting…
So I found this link of this man’s efforts to get the dolphins and whales recognized as a nation of their own, deserving of our protection.
In this article they say:
“The future of many species of whales and dolphins is in question. The Baiji, or Yangtze River Dolphin, the Vaquita dolphin found in the Sea of Cortez, and the North Pacific Right Whale are but a few species whose chances of being completely exterminated from our earth during the next two decades is almost a certainty.
To insure the survival of cetaceans, in light of the continuous onslaught by their terrestrial counterparts, human beings, it is essential that cetaceans be recognized for what they truly are: non-terrestrial intelligent lifeforms. Lifeforms which do indeed have the same inherent rights that human beings have to survive and to live in peace.
To attain this goal, it is essential that the cetaceans attain a status in human society in which they are recognized as the intelligent lifeforms that they are. It is with this goal in mind that a Cetacean Nation is now being initiated.”
I did not realize it was so serious that they could be exterminated within two decades. They say that we need the cetaceans for our oceans to survive, and for our world to survive. When I heard the lecture about this, it sounded very serious and definitely worth our time and energy to fight for the rights of these wonderful beings to survive on our planet. Please join me in putting them in your prayers daily.
