Here’s an ‘old’ song of Asher’s, based on the Greek mass.  It uses ‘Kyrie Eleison’ as a mantra.  The reason I love it is because, years ago, I learned that the closest English translation of ‘Kyrie Eleison’ is not, in fact the fearful phrase “Lord, have mercy”, which the church usually interprets it as, but “Lord, pour thyself forth.”  Now, whether or not this translation is accurate, that is the meaning that I have given to these words for a long time now, and when I sing along with this song I envision and experience the boundless Love and Light of the Christ-spirit being poured into me and into the world.
