Allan Savory
Allan Savory is a Zimbabwean biologist, game ranger, farmer, rancher and politician. In the 1960s, he made a significant breakthrough in understanding what was causing the desertification of the world’s grasslands and how to use properly managed livestock to restore those lands. He is president of the Savory Institute and board chair of the Africa Centre for Holistic Management which won the 2010 Buckminster Fuller Award for the organization working to solve the world’s most pressing problems. In 2003, Savory was awarded the Banksia International Award for the person or organization doing the most for the environment on a global scale.
